Nature prepares for winter

DAMASCUS, PA — Naturalist Ed Wesely will lead a forest walk on Saturday, October 7 at 10:00 a.m., following the one-mile trail through the Damascus Township Forest. Wesely will point out the less readily apparent signs of fall and nature’s preparations for winter, along with specific plants, mosses, berries and wildlife. The scenic trail enters an oak and hickory forest, proceeds around a swamp and then travels through an ancient hemlock grove.

Meet at the Delaware Highlands Conservancy’s Butterfly Barn in Milanville at 9:45 a.m. to carpool to the walk site.

Dress warmly, wear sturdy shoes and bring binoculars if you have them.
