CineArt gets a ‘Scoop’ for September

CALLICOON, NY — The Delaware Valley Arts Alliance and the Callicoon Theater will present Woody Allen’s “Scoop” as part of the CineArt film series in September.

“Scoop,” (PG-13), starring Hugh Jackman, Scarlett Johansson, and Ian McShane (Deadwood), is writer/director Woody Allen’s homage to the Thin Man films. “Scoop” is Allen’s second consecutive film to be set and shot in London (following 2005’s critically acclaimed “Match Point”).

A young American journalist (Johansson) visiting friends in London happens upon the scoop of a lifetime when the ghost of a British reporter (McShane) tips her off to the identity of the elusive “tarot card killer.” On the hunt for the murderer, she soon finds herself in the arms of a handsome British aristocrat (Jackman), who may actually be the killer she’s after.

The San Francisco Chronicle calls “Scoop“ “laugh-out-loud funny” and Salon.com declares it “the kind of small pleasure that can make you feel intensely grateful.”

Screening dates are Wednesday, September 13 and Thursday, September 14 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, September 16 at 2:00 p.m. and 9:45 p.m., and Sunday, September 17 at 2:00 p.m. Admission is $7.00.

A percentage of the profits and $1 per person from ticket sales benefit Delaware Valley Arts Alliance programs and services.
