A salute to Sullivan County firefighters

ROCK HILL, NY — On Saturday, September 16, Sullivan County will have the opportunity to celebrate its volunteer fire fighting companies at the 78th annual Sullivan County Volunteer Firefighters Association (SCVFA) parade.

The event is a half-day affair, with the parade—including representation from fire departments all around the county as well as a variety of auxiliaries and marching bands—stepping off at 3:00 p.m. The band “Phillip the Meatbox” will provide entertainment from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., and an awards ceremony will be held at 8:00 p.m.

The county’s new fire prevention and sprinkler demonstration trailer will be on site after the parade. Fireworks at dusk, sponsored by the Town of Thompson, will bring the celebration to a festive conclusion.
