A salute to Sullivan County firefighters

ROCK HILL, NY—On Saturday, September 16, Sullivan County will have the opportunity to celebrate its volunteer fire fighting companies at the 78th annual Sullivan County Volunteer Firefighters Association (SCVFA) parade.

The event is a half-day affair, with the parade—including representation from fire departments all around the county as well as a variety of auxiliaries and marching bands—stepping off at 3:00 p.m. The band “Phillip the Meatbox” will provide entertainment from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., and an awards ceremony will be held at 8:00 p.m.

The county’s new fire prevention and sprinkler demonstration trailer will be on site after the parade. Fireworks at dusk, sponsored by the Town of Thompson, will bring the celebration to a festive conclusion.

CineArt gets a ‘Scoop’ for September

CALLICOON, NY—The Delaware Valley Arts Alliance and the Callicoon Theater will present Woody Allen’s “Scoop” as part of the CineArt film series in September.

“Scoop,” (PG-13), starring Hugh Jackman, Scarlett Johansson, and Ian McShane (Deadwood), is writer/director Woody Allen’s homage to the Thin Man films. “Scoop” is Allen’s second consecutive film to be set and shot in London (following 2005’s critically acclaimed “Match Point”).
