Peace events, 9/14-9/21

SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY — Sullivan Peace and Justice has planned a series of peace events throughout the month of September. This week’s events are:

September 16—Picnic for Peace. Thompson Park, Monticello, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. Bring food, nonalcoholic beverage, drums for drumming (drumming lessons will be available), frisbies and games for kids.

September 17—Walk for Peace. Starts and ends at Woodstock Memorial site in Bethel, corner of Hurd and West Shore Roads, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Distance of one to 10 miles; walk what you can. For more information call 570/729-1244 or 845/292-2279

September 19—“Nonviolent Communication.” Sullivan County Community College in Loch Sheldrake, 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. for seven weeks. A class developed by Marshall Rosenberg and taught by Tim Shera. Cost is $70. For more information call 845/434-5750, ext. 4398.

September 21—Meditation for Peace. Gathering to celebrate the United Nations-declared day of world peace. Participants will gather at the office of Dr. Eos, 71 North Main Street, Liberty. For more information call 845/292-0522.
