Images of beauty
By SANDY LONG
HONESDALE Nadine Greco has an eye for beautyand an interest in sharing that with others. Photography is my passion, said Greco. Everywhere I go Im always looking all around me, trying to capture what others dont take the time to see.
Greco has turned this interest into a sideline business she calls Frameables.
I make photo cards and sell prints framed and unframed, said Greco.
The public will have an opportunity to view Grecos work throughout the month of September when it is exhibited at the Wayne County Library on Main Street.
Grecos photographic work is a side interest that she believes supports her health and well being. She should know. As Cardiac Rehabilitation Coordinator at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Greco regularly sees the cumulative effects of lifestyles laden with too much stress and not enough restorative time.
Since shes often advising patients who have suffered a heart attack or undergone cardiac surgery to set aside time to relax and to appreciate the beauty of the natural world, Greco makes it a priority to observe and capture in images what she finds to be sustaining. I must practice what I preach, she joked.
Greco typically shoots what she finds most compelling. I choose my subject matter by what excites me. The beauty of people, places and things. I like sharing with others what I have been given the opportunity to experience.
Driving throughout the Upper Delaware region, or while traveling to new places, Greco often stops to capture a close-up of a dew-drenched flower, sunlight filtering through a forest or a mist-shrouded lake. The act of witnessing and recording those images raises her awareness of the beauty that surrounds us in everyday places and settings.
Grecos nature images, photos featuring Wayne County and pictures from Grecos recent trip to Italy will be featured at the library exhibition. Photos will be available for purchase by contacting Greco at 570/878-8569 or greco@wmh.org.
