CALLICOON, NY Gladys V. Bergner, a former resident of Callicoon, died on Wednesday, June 14, 2006.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2006 at the family plot in the Callicoon Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
MARY DEGROAT
CUDDEBACKVILLE, NY Mary DeGroat of Cuddebackville died Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at home. She was 73.
The daughter of the late Simon and Minnie Snyder Scally, she was born on November 18, 1932 in Bally Castle, Ireland.
A family statement said: She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She had a caring heart and will be missed by all that knew her and loved her. Our loving mothers soul has been called home.
She is survived by four sons, Ronald DeGroat and James DeGroat of Port Jervis, Michael DeGroat of Hamilton, OH and Thomas DeGroat of New York City; eight daughters, Karen Reed and Rosemarie Owens of the state of Florida, Debra DeGroat of Marshalls Creek, PA, Sandra DeGroat of Port Jervis, Susan Culver and Brenda DeGroat of Milford, PA, Nancy DeGroat of Middletown and Darlene Snyder of LaBelle, FL; four brothers, James Snyder of the state of Florida, Willie Snyder of Mesa, AZ, Vincent Snyder of Stroudsburg, PA and Thomas Snyder of Sparrowbush; one sister, Eileen Henderson of Fort Drum, 32 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred R. DeGroat Sr.; a sister, Susan Snyder; and a son, Alfred Alfie DeGroat Jr.
Services were held Friday, August 25, 2006 at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home with the Reverend A. Richard Carlton officiating.
Interment is at Pine Hill Cemetery in Sparrowbush.

MARJORIE DOSCHER
NORTH BRANCH, NY Marjorie Doscher of North Branch died on Friday, August 25 at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty. She was 85.
The daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Kircher McCaffrey, she was born on June 6, 1921 in Brooklyn.
Doscher was a homemaker. She was a member of AARP.
She is survived by her husband, Henry L.K. Doscher, a resident of the adult care center; a son, Brandt Doscher and his wife Teresa of North Branch; a daughter, Nancy McGrath of Rochester; and six grandchildren.
Private memorial services will be held on Long Island.
MARTHA L. DUNNING
SPARROWBUSH, NY Martha L. Dunning of Sparrowbush died on Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at Valley View Nursing Home in Goshen. She was 79.
The daughter of the late Harry W. and Leona Mandeville Oppelt Sr., she was born on January 22, 1927 in Port Jervis.
Dunning worked for Novelty Slipper in Port Jervis.
A family statement read: The family would like to thank our special friend, Donna Green, for the exceptional care she gave to Mom.
She is survived by four sons, Charles Dunning Jr. and his wife Patricia, Edward Dunning of Sparrowbush, William Dunning and his wife Donna, and Tracy Dunning and his wife Erin, all of Glen Spey; one daughter, Linda Henderson of Muskogee, OK; one brother, Harry W. Oppelt Jr. of Port Jervis; one sister, Linda Oney of Belleville, NJ; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Duning Sr; three sisters, Beatrice McBride, Mary Decker and Kippy DeLange.
Services were held Friday, August 25, 2006 at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home in Port Jervis with Pastor Joseph Iannone officiating.
Interment is at Pine Hill Cemetery in Sparrowbush.

AMERIGUS N. LAUDE SR
LOOKOUT, PA Amerigus N. Laude Sr. of Lookout died on Friday, August 18, 2006. He was 58.
He was born on January 10, 2006 in California.
Known as Reggie to family and friends, Laude was the owner and operator of Laudes Power Equipment and Small Engine Garage. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Melinda; two sons, Reggie (Nick) and Amerigus Jr. (A.J.); one daughter, Eliza; and three grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, August 26, 2006 at the Hessling Funeral Home in Honesdale, with the Very Reverend Martin Boylan officiating.
VERLYN DALE SMITH SR
WILLOW SPRINGS, MO Verlyn Dale Smith Sr., a resident of Willow Springs, died on Saturday August 19, 2006 at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield. He was 73.
He was born on February 10, 1933 in Galilee, PA.
Smith was a 30-year resident of Willow Springs where he did carpentry, HVAC and ran the Willow Springs route for the Springfield News Leader for 15 years. He enjoyed gardening and had a tremendous green thumb.
He is survived by a son, Verlyn Dale Jr. and his wife Betty of Westmoreland, KS; two sisters, Avis Rolston and her husband Leonard of Milanville, PA, and Sharon Reynolds of Honesdale, PA; one brother, Nevylle Smith of Washington, D.C.; several grandchildren; and his dear friend Wanda Clouse and her family of Willow Springs.
