Callicoon Center to host Day to Be Gay 6
CALLICOON CENTER, NY Day to Be Gay in the Catskills 6 will be held on Sunday, September 3 at Hills Country Inn in Callicoon Center. It had originally been slated for the Delaware Community Center in Callicoon, NY, where the previous festivals have occurred, but the venue has been changed this year in view of the flood damage sustained at the Callicoon location.
The event will begin at 2:00 p.m. with live entertainment that will continue to 6:00 p.m., featuring The Big Apple Corps Band and En Guard, Ember Swift, Paprika, Rubberlegs and comedian Susan Norfleet, who will serve as MC.
Vendors of all kinds will be on site selling food and beverages, local crafts, art, clothing and gifts. Also on hand will be representatives from most of the other gay organizations in the region. The Dog of the Day Contest will be held again this year, and dogs on leashes are welcome.
The event will be held rain or shine. Seating is outside on the lawn; participants are invited to bring chairs or blankets.
Admission costs $15 and children 12 and under will be admitted for free.
This year, following the festival, activities will move across the street to the Club House at Hills for the After Party and Dance until the wee hours. There is free admission to the dance for festival goers with wristbands intact. Admission is $10 for all others, and there will be a cash bar.
A Day to be Gay in the Catskills is a celebration of L/G/B/T music and culture for the entire family. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the festivities.
