A painting by Trix Render, one of 25 Wayne County artists who will open her studio to visitors this weekend. Render’s paintings draw from images and experiences of her childhood in the vast Orange Free State region of South Africa, where, as Render says, “You could see tomorrow yesterday.”

The Wayne County Arts Alliance spends every summer cooking up treats for local (and visiting) arts aficionados, and for the last four years they have saved one of their best goodies for last: the weekend-long Studio Arts Tour. For three days, open house is held at a couple of dozen locations all over the county, while visitors ramble country roads, dropping in at the studios of artists and artisans who produce items of beauty ranging from chairs to chiaroscuro.
