DIGital appetizers at the Sidedoor Gallery

CALLICOON, NY — There will be a digital event at the Sidedoor Gallery, upstairs at 27 Lower Main Street, Callicoon, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 27. The event, a video art discussion and installations, is coordinated with the Best of DIGit evening at the Callicoon Theatre, which immediately follows it.

The installations are video art works from the gallery’s New Art Lab series, including a multi-monitor installation by award-winning video artist Kurt Ralske, whose work is on permanent display in the MOMA lobby. There will also be short pieces by artists recently featured in “Codes of Culture—Video Art From 7 Continents,” an exhibition and lecture series curated by Nina Colosi, which presented diverse perspectives on codes of culture by video artists from around the world. The gallery will continue to show British artist Marty St. James’ video portrait, which was the hit of the recent ArteBA 2006 festival in Buenos Aires.

In addition, appraiser and new art specialist Paulina Kolczynska will give a talk, “Collecting the New Classics, the Evolution of the New Art Forms.”

Presented in collaboration with Nina Colosi, founder of the Project Room, an international arts and education program formerly located at the Chelsea Museum, New Art Lab serves as an incubator of new ideas, showcasing groundbreaking concepts in various art mediums and the intersection of the arts through technology.

The gallery is open Friday through Sunday from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m. and by appointment.
