Visit Friends in Grahamsville

GRAHAMSVILLE, NY — The members of the Quaker Meeting in Grahamsville will host a fair from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, on the grounds of their historic Meeting House. The members of this small congregation, whose meeting house is on Route 55 opposite the Little World’s Fair fairgrounds, hold this summer festival every year as a way to raise their visibility in the community as well as to raise funds for Quaker work around the world.

The fair will feature homemade foods, fresh vegetables from home gardens, a crafts tent and a white elephant sale. There are benches in the shade to encourage lingering and visiting, and an opportunity to look into the building or to ask questions about Quakers and Quakerism.

On view and available for purchase will be the pottery of Ann Marie Kremer, the paintings of Elise Hornbeck, quilted items made out of exotic fabrics by Pixie Piera, watercolors by Ann Higgins and digitalized prints that can be personalized for all occasions by Gloria Wagenknecht. A special attraction this year will be a demonstration of blacksmithing techniques by Vincent Sanborn.

The new park in the center of Grahamsville provides a bonus attraction to visitors this year.
