SCOTT CHRISTOPHER DOW

MIDDLETOWN, NY — Scott Christopher Dow died Friday August 4, 2006 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus, Middletown. He was 32.

The son of Walter Dow III and Barbara Gail Fox Dow, he was born on November 29, 1973 in Middletown.

He was a past participant of Occupations, Inc. and was actively involved with the Stony Ford Foundation. Dow was also an avid fan of the WWF.

He is survived by his father, Walter Dow III at home; his mother, Barbara Dow of Largo, FL; his sisters, Eileen Radcliffe of Florida state and Patricia Kougher of Glen Spey; an uncle, Chester Dow and his wife, Bonnie of Middletown; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Walter Dow, Sr. and Genevieve Dow, and an aunt, Patricia Dow.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc. in Middletown.

Interment will take place at Bloomingburg Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation.


THOMAS JOHN ELDRED

CAPE CORAL, FL — Thomas John Eldred died Monday, July 30, 2006. He was 59.

The son of the late Julian Eldred and Cynthia Barhite Harrell, he was born July 19, 1947 in Rileyville, PA.

Eldred served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was the owner of the Fort Myers Wrecker Service.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret George Eldred; two sons, John and Steven; two daughters, Beverly and Valerie of Ft. Myers; five sisters, Evelyn Miller of Prompton, PA, Elizabeth Kenyon of Equinunk, PA, Gertrude Smith of Ft. Myers, Joyce Fox of Waymart, PA and Pearl Blackburn of Wavchvia; and seven grandchildren.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Virgil, Edward and George; and two sisters, Eldora Burke and Joy Schultz.

Funeral services were held August 2, 2006 in Fort Myers.

Cremation followed.

HUGH “MARVIN” HAYNES JR.

NARROWSBURG, NY — Hugh “Marvin” Haynes Jr. died Friday, August 11, 2006. He was 85.

The son of the late Hugh Marvin and Almira Staudinger Haynes Sr., he was born March 3, 1921 in the Mount Olivet area of Pittsburgh, PA.

Haynes grew up in Queens, NY, where he was active in the Boy Scouts and in church. He served in the U.S. Army’s 69th Infantry Division in World War II. He lived in Lansford, PA where he was a machinist quality control inspector and was active in the church and choir as well as the Coalcracker Chorus and Barbershop Harmony Society, in addition to several senior activities. He lived in Narrowsburg for the last three years where he was a member of the Tusten Seniors and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

He is survived by four daughters, Gail Topp of Brooklyn, Rev. Phyllis Haynes of Narrowsburg, Nancy Haynes of Brooklyn and Jennifer Lieckel of Freeland, PA; two sons, David Haynes and his wife Marti of Marquette, MI and Andrew Haynes of Pennsylvania; 14 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Nora Roberts; a brother, George Haynes; and two sisters, Lois Frieburg and Ursula Baumer.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Narrowsburg. The Rev. Phyllis Haynes will officiate.

BARBARA A. HOFFMAN

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Barbara A. Hoffman died July 30, 2006. She was 55.

She was born on July 21, 1951 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Harry and Delmira Pote. A beloved wife, mother and grandmother, she devoted much of her life to helping others through her work in the medical profession.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Philip Hoffman; daughter Jessica Howard and husband James of Charlotte, NC; brothers Thomas Pote and wife Kathy of Franklin Square, NY, James Pote and wife Theresa of Oceanside, NY and Michael Pote and wife Lisa of Nashville, TN; sisters Susan Youngberg and husband Richard of Levittown, NY and Nancy Peysson of Bayside, NY; twin grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Locally, she leaves a sister-in-law, Barbara Starck of Tucson, AZ and Narrowsburg, NY.

A funeral mass was held August 3 at St. Mark Catholic Church, Huntersville, NC with Msgr. Richard Bellow officiating.

Interment followed at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery in Cornelius, NC.

Raymen Funeral Home, Huntersville, NC is serving the family.


RANDY L. HUTSON

MONTAGUE, NJ — Randy L. Hutson died Saturday, July 8, 2006 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, NY. He was 47.

The son of Marion Gill Hailey, he was born February 23, 1959 in Denver, CO.

Hutson was a member of Fleet Reserve Association Branch #229, retiring after 26 years of service as a Chief Petty Officer with the U.S. Navy, Washington, DC.

He is survived by his wife, Mareva Babcock Hutson and daughters Ashley and Mary at home; his mother, Marion Hailey of Edgewater, CO; three brothers, Ross Hailey and his wife Renee of Littleton, CO, Bob Hailey and his wife Kelli of Brighton, CO and David Hailey of Edgewater; two sisters, Paula Hutson of Edgewater and Deborah Tollison of Buckeye, AZ; brother and sister-in-law Bryan and Susan Ewbank and their children of Westfall, PA; sister-in-law Melissa Herman and her daughter of Yulan, NY; brother-in-law Roland Babcock of Montague; mother-in-law Patricia Babcock of Montague; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Roland W. Babcock; and by his maternal grandfather, Lawrence Gill.

Memorial services were held on August 12, 2006 at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home in Port Jervis, NY.

DORIS A. MACMULLEN

BEACH LAKE, PA — Doris A. MacMullen died Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at home. She was 68.

The daughter of Phillip and Edith Teeple Acker, she was born in Tyler Hill.

MacMullen graduated from Damascus High School in 1956 and worked as a sewing machine operator for Katz Underwear Factory for 35 years. She was a member of the Beach Lake United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling and collecting dolls and loved children, especially her grandchildren, and her cat.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald MacMullen; two sons, Randy and his wife Dena of Beach Lake and Jody of Sarasota, FL; a sister, Ruth Weist of Honesdale; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Kenneth, Vernon “Butch” and Harold; and a sister, Margaret Davis.

Services were held Saturday, August 12, 2006 in the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Terwilliger of the Beach Lake United Methodist Church officiating.

THOMAS F. MCNEELY

JOHNSON CITY, NY — Thomas F. McNeely died on August 2, 2006 at the James G. Johnson Nursing Home in Johnson City. He was 91.

The son of Charles and Ruth McNeely Albonesi, he was born April 15, 1915 in Dumont, NJ.

McNeely grew up in Monticello, where he was a high school track and football star. He served in the U.S. Army 51st field artillery battalion and as a medic during WWII. He was business manager of the Hamilton Avenue Hospital, proprietor of the United Cigar Store and later the Book Nook, all in Monticello. He was a long-time member of the Masons and active in the First Presbyterian Church of Monticello.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Seargent McNeely of Johnson City; two daughters, Alice McNeely and husband John Smigelski of Windsor, and Carol Ehrets and husband Walter of Forestburgh; one son, Peter McNeely and wife Yolanda of Glen Spey; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held on Sunday, August 13, 2006 at the First Presbyterain Church of Monticello with the Rev. Robert McLeod officiating.

Interment took place at Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.

JAMES “TEDDY’ THIELE

MILESES, NY — James “Teddy” Thiele died on Saturday, August 12, 2006 at Mt. Sinai Medical Center, Manhattan. He was 61.

The son of the late Berthold and Alvoy Asher Thiele, he was born November 28, 1944 in Salem, NJ.

Thiele was a retired store room clerk for the Sullivan County Department of Public Works in Barryville. He was a member of the Hankins Fremont Fire Department, the Fremont Center Community Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by two sisters, Caroline Cassaday of Woodstown, NJ and Irma Twaddell of Slayden, TN; three nieces; one nephew; and several grandnieces and nephews.

Services will be held Friday, August 18, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Callicoon. The Rev. James O’Rourcke will officiate. Interment will be at Fremont Center Cemetery, Fremont Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to Fremont Center Community Church or to the Hankins Fremont Fire Department.


RICHARD AARON WARNER

MIDDLETOWN, NY — Richard Aaron Warner of Middletown died Thursday, August 20, 2006 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus in Middletown. He was 39.

The son of Ulysses Pittman and Nadine Rivers, he was born on December 1, 1966 in Middletown.

Warner was a construction worker and a lifelong resident of the area.

He is survived by his companion, Gail Smith of Middletown; his mother, Nadine Rivers of Highland Falls; five brothers, Gregory, Ronald and Reginald Hill, all of Georgia, Arnell Rivers and his wife Elaine of North Carolina and Edward Holley and his companion Marlinda of Sparrowbush; three sisters, Ivory Johnson of Georgia, Gwen Johnson of Newburgh and Carrie M. Jones of Highland Falls; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
