The vigor of Ukrainian Dance comes to the Seelig Theatre

LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY — Fifty dancers from the Voloshky Ukrainian Dance Ensemble will electrify the stage at the Seelig Theatre of Sullivan County Community College next Thursday, August 17. There will be two performances, one at 2:00 p.m. and a second at 8:00 p.m.

The ensemble, founded in 1972, draws from a repertoire of over 45 traditional dances representing the various regions of the Ukraine. From vibrant, acrobatic dances such as Hopak—called the most exciting folk dance in the world—to graceful, stylized romantic movements in Kokhanochka, the ensemble displays a style that is clearly native to Ukrainian dancing, yet classical enough to be appreciated by all.

Tickets cost $20 for general admission, $18 for seniors, students, and SCCC staff, and $15 for groups.
