RONALD G. BABCOCK

CORNWALL, NY — Ronald G. Babcock of Cornwall died Friday, August 4, 2006 at home. He was 73.

The son of the late Orrin Babcock and Nellie Baisley Babcock, he was born on January 4, 1933 in Cornwall.

Babcock was a retired heavy equipment operator for the Palisades Interstate Park Commission, Bear Mountain. He was a member of the Cornwall United Methodist Church, an honorary member of the Highland Mills Fire Company and a former member of the Woodbury Community Ambulance Corps.

He is survived by his wife, Isabelle “Sammy” Babcock of Cornwall; a son, Thomas A. Babcock and his wife Sandra of Cornwall; two daughters, Veronica L. Babcock of Cornwall and Carla J. Cornelius and her husband Stephen of Cornwall; a brother, Leon Babcock of New Windsor; a sister, Joan Conklin of Narrowsburg; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, Elting Babcock.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 9, 2006 in the Smith, Seaman and Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert T. Milson officiating.

Interment will take place in the Cemetery of the Highlands, Highland Mills.

ROMAULT BRUNO

LONG EDDY, NY — Romault Bruno of Long Eddy died on Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at the Grover Hermann Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Callicoon. He was 84.

The son of James and Giovanna Bruno, he was born May 24, 1922 in Pines Township, PA.

The former owner of Bruno’s General Store, Bruno was a member of Holy Cross Church in Callicoon and the Alan Milk Post #7276 VFW of Long Eddy. He was also a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by a daughter, Gloria Milk and her husband Lucian of Long Eddy; one brother, Franklin Bruno of Florida; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

He was predeceased by his wife, Constance Bruno; three brothers, Joseph Bruno, Blandino Bruno and Alfred Bruno; and two sisters, Pauldina Bruno and Delphina Genna.

Services were held Friday, August 4, 2006 at Holy Cross Church in Callicoon with Fr. Ignatius Smith officiating.

Cremation will take place at Twin Tiers Crematory, Endicott.

STEPHEN J. CONKLIN

PORT JERVIS, NY — Stephen J. Conklin of Port Jervis died Friday, August 4, 2006 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus, Middletown. He was 40.

The son of the late Lester W. and Charlotte McGaw Conklin, he was born on October 25, 1965 in Port Jervis.

A graduate of Port Jervis High School, Conklin was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Excelsior Engine Co. No. 5 and the Port Jervis Democratic Committee. He worked as a retail manager at the Family Dollar in Port Jervis for six years and was recently elected to his third consecutive term as fourth ward councilman. He was the senior sitting council member in the city of Port Jervis. Conklin also served as the chairman of the finance committee and as liaison to the recreation and tourism committees, Community Development Agency and IDA. He was also a member of the code and legislative committee, the public works committee and the core committee for the centennial celebration.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Bittle Conklin at home; two daughters, Alyson Conklin and Kara Conklin at home; a son, Gregory Conklin at home; a brother, Lester Conklin and his wife Sheila of Port Jervis; a sister, Shelly Morgan and her husband Chris of Sparrowbush; aunts and uncles; nephews and nieces; and many special friends.

Services were held Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at First Presbyterian Church in Port Jervis with the Rev. Stephen Huston officiating.

Interment will take place at Rural Valley Cemetery, Cuddebackville.

FREDERICK E. KELLY

PHOENIX, AZ — Frederick E. Kelly of Phoenix, AZ died July 30, 2006 at home. He was 73.

The son of the late Joseph E. and Helen Kelly, he was born on September 3, 1932 in White Plains, NY.

A former resident of Stony Point, NY and Westbrookville, NY, Kelly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He graduated from Iona College and the New York School of Interior Design. He worked in the field of interior design at F. Edward Kelly Interiors and Tempo Interiors. He was also the chef and owner of The Jolly Plowboy and the Beef Baron in Stony Point and the Fort Westbrook Inn in Westbrookville.

He is survived by one son, Brent Kelly of Mesa, AZ; three daughters, Jeanette Middleton of Nashville, IL, Kathleen Paquet of North Branch, NY and Amy Kelly of Woodside, NY; a brother, James Kelly of Connecticut; a sister, Helen Kelly of Arizona; and four grandchildren.


MARK RICHARD NORTH

BEACH LAKE, PA — Mark Richard North of Beach Lake died Sunday, August 6, 2006. He was 25.

The son of Richard and Brenda Kilhullen North, he was born on September 26, 1980 in Honesdale.

North was a chef for Woodloch Pines.

He is survived his parents, Richard and Brenda North of Narrowsburg, NY; his sister, Catherine North of Narrowsburg; his girlfriend, Maureen Dempsey of Beach Lake; his maternal grandparents, Ambrose and Elizabeth Kilhullen of Honesdale; his paternal grandfather, Richard North and his wife Barbara of Honesdale; his paternal grandmother, Patricia Herzog of Jensen, FL; and an aunt, several uncles and cousins.

Services were held on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at Rasmussen Funeral Home in Narrowsburg with Pastor Peg VanSiclen officiating.

Cremation took place at Maple Hill Crematory in Archbald, PA.

HELEN F. OLVER

BEACH LAKE, PA — Helen F. Olver of Beach Lake died Friday, August 4, 2006 at the Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale. She was 99.

She was predeceased by her husband, T. Horace Olver.

Services were held Monday, August 7, 2006 in the Arthur Bryant Funeral Home in Honesdale.

WILMA RIHM

PORT JERVIS, NY — Wilma Rihm of Port Jervis died Thursday, August 3, 2006 at St. Teresa’s Nursing Home in Middletown. She was 83.

The daughter of the late Joseph and Katarina Kuntz Lammer, she was born September 3, 1922.

Rihm was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Port Jervis.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene Rihm at home; three sons, Otmar Rihm of Port Jervis, George Rihm and his wife Margaret of Beacon and James Rihm and his wife Susan of Shohola, PA; a sister, Wilfrida Miller in Germany; two grandchildren, two great-grandsons; and three nieces in Germany.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Interment will take place in Laurel Grove Cemetery, Port Jervis.


CHARLES HERMAN SCHULER

HAWLEY, PA — Charles Herman Schuler of Hawley died unexpectedly on Friday, August 4, 2006 at home. He was 76.

The son of the late Frederick and Julia Nehus Schuler, he was born in Port Jervis, NY.

Schuler was a retired industrial electrician for Chroma Tube and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was of Lutheran affiliation and was a member of the Sylvan Beach Legion Post #1153. Schuler was also an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Schuler of Hawley; two daughters, Charlene Schuler of East Stroudsburg and Krista Jennings of Beach Lake; a son, Charles H. Schuler II of Hawley; two sisters, Marjorie Everding of Lake Ariel and Edith Tether of Tafton; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held on Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at Hawley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Martin L. Cox, Jr. officiating.

CAROL J. (BERTANI) TURINI

LACKAWAXEN, PA — Carol J. (Bertani) Turini of Lackawaxen died Monday, July 31, 2006 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. She was 67.

The daughter of Dante and Verna Bertani, she was born in New York City, NY.

Turini worked as a representative for New York Telephone. She was a member of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church of Shohola.

She is survived by her husband, Alfred Turini at home; a son, Christopher J. Turini of Palm Desert, CA; a daughter, Jennifer Turini of Mineola, NY; and four grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a brother, Ronald Bertani.

Services were held at BVM Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, August 5, 2006.

Interment will take place at Green Gates Cemetery, Hawley, PA.
