‘Women on Fire’

WOODSTOCK, NY — Woodstock Fringe will present “Women On Fire,” on Thursday, August 10 through Sunday, August 13 and Thursday, August 17 through Saturday, August 19. Performances, which are at the Byrdcliffe Theater on Upper Byrdcliffe Road, will be at 8:00 p.m. on each day, with one 3:00 p.m. performance on August 19.

In the play, which The New York Times describes as “Bewitching… astounding… heartbreaking,” Trude is a world-famous photojournalist who returns from her latest assignment to discover that her studio has burned down and, with it, her life’s work and art collection. All is lost except for the last few rolls of film she shot. Her assignment had been to create portraits of contemporary American women from all walks of life, from ad executive to mid-west mom to caregiver to construction worker. Twelve of these portraits, lyrical, funny and passionate, come to life on stage. The cast includes Asta Hansen, co-founder of the Catskill Actors Theater in Highland Lake (now the NACL), Noni Connor and Nicola Sheara.

The author, Irene O’Garden, will participate in a post-performance discussion on Saturday, August 12.

Tickets cost $20 for adults and $17 for students and seniors.
