Artwork out of the new West at the Sidedoor Gallery

CALLICOON, NY — An exhibit called “Kick-Ass Cowboy” is now being featured by the Sidedoor Gallery at its new space, upstairs at 27 Lower Main Street.

Narrowsburg artist James Gann paints edgy, humorous images of cowboys, with a wink and a nod to his native Texas roots. Combining urban and rural aesthetics, intricate backgrounds with graffiti-stenciled edges are juxtaposed with characters either hand-drawn or appropriated from a vast collection of images.

Along with Gann’s work, Sidedoor Gallery is showing a collection of photography, video art, mixed media and jewelry. It is open Thursday through Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and by appointment.
