Piano and chamber music at Shandelee
LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY Area residents will be treated to two concerts in one week as part of the continuing Sunset Concert series of the Shandelee Music Festival.
First, on August 10 at 8:00 p.m., will be a solo piano concert by Allen Yueh. Yueh began his piano studies at the age of five under the guidance of Yelena Ivanov, former professor at Gnesinsky Academy of Music in Moscow (Russia). In September 2005, Yueh was named one of the top five young artists to perform in the 2005-06 season by the Crescent Concert Talented Young Artists Audition board. He has performed at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and CAMI Hall, among others.
On Tuesday, August 15, there will be a chamber music concert with Susanne Stanzeleit (violin) and Yong Hi Moon (piano).
As first violin of the Werethina String Quartet for many years, Stanzeleit has won several prizes at international competitions. Between January 2000 and June 2002, she was leader of the Edinburgh String Quartet, one of the UKs leading and longest established chamber groups.
Moon began piano lessons at the age of five in her native Korea, at nine won first prize in a national music contest sponsored by the Korean Broadcasting System and at 10 made her debut with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra.
The concerts take place in the Festival Concert Pavilion. Advance reservations are required. Tickets are $25, $23 for seniors and students. Meet the artist specialty dessert receptions follow each Sunset Concert.
