Car flips over on CR 23

NARROWSBURG, NY - A two-door KIA driven by Caroline Desseauve of Yulan, flipped over on County Route 23 just below Route 97 on the afternoon of July 31. She was not injured.

There was a line of cars that were stopped at a road construction site on a hill as she approached, coming down the hill.

“When I tried to stop, I couldn’t,” she said. “My brakes failed.” Rather than hitting a car that had several children in it, she swerved off the road. “It was the choice of the trees across the road on my left or the ditch so I chose the ditch,” she said.

Her car crossed the ditch, went up a bank and then flipped over. She crawled out through the rear window unharmed.

Trooper Barry Falk, who was at the scene, did not issue a citation.
