In between the dark and the light
With love of family and friends, Nick Mootz battles Hodgkins Lymphoma
By RICHARD A. ROSS
KENOZA LAKE, NY - They say that its always darkest before the dawn. Likewise, when our lives appear bleak, a ray of hope can burgeon into renewed joy and revival.
When parents Michelle and Tom Mootz received the news on April 22 that their 14-year-old son, Nick, was suffering from Hodgkins Lymphoma, doctors told them it could claim his life. Hodgkins Lymphoma is a cancer of the lymphatic system, the bodys first line of immune defense. Now two and a half months later, the couple, and their younger son, Thomas, sit at their kitchen table with Nick, who is in remission. They look to Nicks recovery with a sense of relief.

Nugget rides big seventh inning to roar past Discovery
By RICHARD A. ROSS
MONGAUP VALLEY, NY - With a 5-10 record, Nugget wishes they were back in the B division, which they topped last year. Instead, they have had to deal with the battering from tough A division teams such as Charlies Angels, Cooper Paint, Dutchs Bar and Klein & Sons Logging.
On July 24, they encountered the second- best team in the B division in The Center for Discovery.
Discovery had troubles of its own this past week when they relinquished first place to New Hope with back-to-back losses. The Diamonds look forward to the upcoming playoffs for a chance to even the score.
