Sunday at Dorflinger

Memorial concert and guided tours make for a special day

WHITE MILLS, PA — Dorflinger Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary has extended its usual Saturday Wildflower Festival concerts to include a Sunday performance in memory of Jane Zwillinger Ables, the late executive and artistic director of the Wildflower Festival. Featuring classical pianist JingYi Zhang on the outdoor stage of the Wildflower Amphitheater, the concert starts at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 30.

For this special day at Dorflinger, the sanctuary grounds will be open for picnicking from late morning. An afternoon program begins at noon as the Dorflinger Glass Museum opens for special guided tours that highlight two new museum exhibits, Rarities in Color and Form and Paperweights in the Dorflinger Tradition. Museum and museum gift shop hours for the day are from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. Guided tours of the historic 1867 Glassworker’s House on Charles Street will take place from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

JingYi was accepted at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing where she studied with Jin Zhang, chairman of the Piano Department. She currently attends the Juilliard School of Music Pre-College Division in New York City under a full scholarship. For her program at Wildflower, JingYi will perform works by Scarlatti, Schumann, Prokofiev and Rachmaninov.

Attendees should bring chairs or blankets to sit on. The concert will finish by approximately 3:00 p.m.

A special discounted admission of $18 will admit an adult to all three events (concert, museum, house tour). Children under 18 are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
