Beauty and the Beast for young audiences
LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY Ballet for Young Audiences presents Beauty and the Beast at 10:30 a.m. on August 1 at the Seelig Theatre of Sullivan County Community College.
Beauty and the Beast, choreographed by Harriett Kinter, is based on the classic tale written by French noblewoman Madam Leprence Beaumont in 1757. It is the story of a father and his mission to retrieve some part of his lost wealth, his brave daughter, Belle, and a horrible beast (who was once a prince) that Belle befriends and ultimately saves from death. The ballet consists of five scenes that are fully narrated, is one hour long and is danced to the music of Peter Tchaikovsky.
Ballet for Young Audiences was established in 1985. By integrating dance, music and the spoken word, the company reaches youngsters of all ages and backgrounds and stimulates their interest in culture and the arts.
Tickets cost $6 for general admission and $5 per person for groups of 20 or more.
