Games versus Ronnys Ringers cap off successful fundraiser for ailing soccer coach

FREMONT CENTER, NY - It was a spectacular finish to a softball tournament to remember. After rounds of sparkling games on Sunday that saw stellar play from Matthews on Main, Fitness Factory, Ronnys Ringers and Stone Arch Inn, it turned out to be a pair of games between Matthews and Ronnys that would lead to Matthews on Mains second big tourney championship this summer.
The tournament, which was a fundraiser for Lenny Miret and his family, began on Friday evening, July 14. Miret is currently waging a battle against cancer

Tusten Chiefs are champs!

WALLENPAUPACK, PA - In the ancient Greek Myth of Sisyphus, the gods condemned Sisyphus to ceaselessly roll a rock to the top of a mountain, only to have the stone fall back just as it neared the top. They figured that there could be no worse punishment than futile and hopeless labor.
For as long as Joe Curreri has been coaching the Tusten Chiefs, a New York team that plays in the Wayne County Teeners League, he and his cadre of talented players have reached the playoffs and come close to winning, only to have things come crashing down.

Mustangs ride herd over shorthanded Sutphen East

MONTICELLO, NY - As the Mustangs continue to play fiery softball in their run for a playoff spot, the men in red found themselves in fifth place overall with a 7-4 record on July 10 as they encountered another playoff contender in Sutphen East, who came in at 6-5.
Under ordinary circumstances, this should have been a hard-fought close game, but Sutphen East was reeling from the absence of key hitters in Tim and John Mills, and other absentees Reed Barnofsky and Nick Maori.
