Editor's pick: A whole-brain experience

Saturday, July 15, 7:00 p.m. Gloria Krause Recital Hall of the Delaware Arts Center, 37 Main Street, Narrowsburg, NY. Suggested donation $3. Call 570/729-7989 or 845/252-7576.

Paul Vazquez’s book, “From Irony to Laughter,” is a mixture of poetry and art that forms a third entity all its own. A recent reviewer of the book wrote, “Whether this collection is ‘visual poetry’ or ‘literate painting’ or some new genre entirely, the symbiosis of images and insight will satisfy both sides of the brain... This volume is a revelation of life discovered through art and poetry.”

In keeping with the hybrid nature of the book, the upcoming Vazquez presentation at the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance cannot exactly be characterized as a reading. Instead, Vazquez will read his poetry while simultaneously projecting images for the audience to view. The result should be a unique and stimulating multimedia event.

Copies of “From Irony to Laughter” will be available for purchase and personalization at the performance.
