Mozart gives Jeffersonville a lift
JEFFERSONVILLE, NY The Weekend of Chamber Music kicked off its summer festival, In the Company of Mozart, by treating Jeffersonville to a visit from the renowned composer himself (in the person of Joseph Schommer), and a free al fresco concert on the lawn next to the Presbyterian Church on Main Street.
Over 100 people attended, including Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther, who read a proclamation from the New York State legislature commending the Weekend of Chamber Music, and Sullivan County Legislator Chris Cunningham.
The mood of celebration and pride was heightened by the fact that, ten days previously, the street strolled by visitors and musicians had been inundated with four feet of flood water.
The Mozart festival, which commemorates the composers 250th birthday, will continue at a variety of venues, including Jeffersonvilles Eddie Adams farm, over the next two weeks.
