Plane searched after entering restricted air space

BETHEL, NY — Just after 4:00pm Saturday, deputies from the Sullivan County Sheriff’s patrol received a Homeland Security alert and responded to the Sullivan County International Airport in White Lake to investigate a suspicious plane that had just landed. The single engine Bonanza, which was en route to Rutledge, Vermont from DeLand, Florida, was tracked by radar after it crossed into restricted air space near Camp David, Maryland. Deputies detained the pilot and his passenger until the U.S. Secret Service could respond. The Pilot, David Mudgett age 73, and Cynthia Mudgett age 54, both of DeLand, Florida were interviewed by the Secret Service and allowed to continue their trip at around 8:00 p.m.
