Fighting the creepy crawlers in 2007
PIKE COUNTY, PA - Pike County Conservation District is accepting applications from residents/communities who would like to be considered for gypsy moth spraying for 2007. This is a state program, run by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) with cooperation from Pike County. Any person who would like to be evaluated for possible inclusion in this program must submit an application to the district office by August 5.
A public informational meeting will be held on July 18 at the Dingman-Delaware Middle School Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. on Route 739 in Dingmans Ferry. Representatives from DCNR and the Pike County Conservation District will present information on the gypsy moth lifecycle, explain the state suppression program and will be on hand to answer any questions.
The 2007 Gypsy Moth Program guidelines have been modified to require a 25-acre minimum spray block size. The district suggests that residents speak with their neighbors to meet this spray block size.
Applications are available at www.pikeconservation.org, www.pikepa.org, the county administration building in Milford, municipal offices or the Pike County Conservation District office in the Blooming Grove on Rt. 402.
Individual applications must be submitted with a $10 non-refundable application fee. Community applications must be submitted with a $50 non-refundable application fee. These fees are payable to the County of Pike. Submitting an application and fee does not guarantee that the property will be included in the program.
