Stepping into the Wild West

HONESDALE, PA — Back for yet another year are the masked marauders on horseback, a sack of loot and a train full of passengers. Sunday, June 26 marked the beginning of the Stourbridge Line’s 13th year of treating its riders to a “real” robbery aboard the round-trip excursions from Honesdale to Hawley.

“It’s one of our most popular rides,” said Annetta DeYoung, Executive Director of the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce. “Everyone just loves it, whether they’re young or old. The robbers from the Triple W Riding Stables in Hawley add a wonderful air of authenticity to the whole wild-west robbery theme. Simply put, the ride is a terrific family outing. There’s the excitement of the robbery, the serene riverside scenery, and that nostalgic, relaxing feeling that comes from chugging along in a train.”

Great Train Robbery runs depart every Sundays from July 10 through August 28. Tickets are $17 per adult and $14 for riders under 13 years of age. Departure time is at 1:30 p.m.

The Stourbridge Line Rail excursion has been owned and operated by the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce for 25 years. Reservations are required on all rides.
