ASHLEY ADAMS
EQUINUNK, PA Ashley A. Adams, a resident of Equinunk, died Saturday, June 17, 2006. She was 22.
The daughter of Alton Adams of Equinunk and Tracey Frey of Pittson, she was born in Carbondale.
A graduate of Honesdale High School and Albright College, Adams worked as a job counselor at the Deleware Valley Job Corps in Callicoon, NY. She formerly worked at The Center for Discovery in Harris, NY. She was a member of the Braman United Methodist Church; clergyperson with the Universal Life Church; member of Amnesty International and Society for Human Rights; and active with the Manchester Community Library. Ashley was also an organ donor.
She is survived by her parents; paternal grandfather, Ralph L. Adams of Equinunk; maternal grandparents, Ronnie Ann and Woodrow R. Frey of Callicoon, NY; maternal great grandmothers, Cecilia Homiak of Shamokin and Ann Davies of Liberty, NY; maternal great grandfather, David Davies of Liberty, NY; three brothers, David Adams, Bruce Adams and Alexander Adams, all of Equinunk; a sister, Candice Voilante and her husband Eric of San Diego, CA; and many cousins, aunts and uncles.
Services were held on Wednesday, June 21 at the Braman United Methodist Church with the Rev. Alice Pedone officiating.
Interment is at the Braman Cemetary, Braman.

GLADYS V. BERGNER
FAIRFAX, VA Gladys V. Bergner, a resident of Fairfax, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at the Fairfax Nursing Center where she had been a resident for several years. She was 98.
The daughter of Rev. James J. Lyons and Emily Barker Lyons, she was born on March 19, 1908.
A graduate of Drew Seminary for Young Women and Ithaca College, Bergner taught piano in Callicoon, NY until her retirement in 1965. While in Callicoon, she was active in the Delaware Free Library, the Womens Literary Club and the beautification of Main Street.
Bergner is survived by her daughter, Jane and husband Allen of Fairfax; a son, William and his wife Caroline of Westerville, OH; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Emily Jane Tadlock and her husband, Charles David of Hot Springs, AR.
She was predeceased by her husband, William L. Bergner, whom she married in 1932; and her brother, Harold T. Lyons.
A graveside service at the family plot in the Callicoon Cemetery, Callicoon, NY will be held at a later date.

HERBERT DEGRAW
GLEN SPEY, NY Herbert Andrews DeGraw, of Glen Spey, died Sunday, June 18, 2006 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus. He was 85.
The son of the later Chauncey DeGraw and Etta DeGraw Tremper, he was born on February 17, 1921 in Goshen.
A retired heavy equipment operator with the County of Orange, DeGraw was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons and the Otterkill Engine Co. Fire Dept.
He is survived by his devoted friends, Lewis and Allison Powell of Glen Spey, Minnie Ellmauer of Scotchtown, Rich and Ellen Miller of Goshen and many friends at Mohican Lake and the surrounding area.
DeGraw was predeceased by his wife, Norma Lillian DeGraw; and by his brother, Alan Tremper.
Services were held on Friday, June 23 at the Lippincott Funeral Chapel with Pastor Nancy Vonderhost of Pond Eddy United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment will be in the Scotchtown Cemetery.

ELSBETH DIETSCH
NARROWSBURG, NY Elsbeth Dietsch, of Narrowsburg, died Thursday, June 22, 2006 at home. She was 76.
The daughter of the late George and Paula Meyer, she was born July 25, 1929 in Brooklyn. A housewife and longtime resident of the area, Dietsch was a member of Calkins Union Baptist Church.
Dietsch is survived by her husband of 53 years, Herbert F. Dietsch at home; a daughter, Linda Marsh of Lakeville, PA; two grandchildren, Lisa Caldwell and Christian Dietsch; and two great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her son, Mark Dietsch.
Services were held on June 26 at Rasmussen Funeral Home in Narrowsburg with the Rev. Lane Jones officiating.
Interment will take place in Glen Cove Cemetery, Narrowsburg.
ANTHONY J. TONY KOZYKOWSKI
PORT JERVIS, NY Anthony J. Tony Kozykowski died Friday, June 9, 2006 at home. He was 94.
The son of the late Nicholas Kozykowski and Adele Dombrowski Kozykowski, he was born on May 22, 1912 in Perth Amboy, NJ.
A former farmer and retired Teamster truck driver for Local 560, Kozykowski was also employed by Kramer Lumber Co., Clifton, NJ. He was a member of St. Marys R.C. Church, Port Jervis.
Kozykowski is survived by three sons, Bernard Kozykowski and his wife, Susan, of Barryville, John Kozykowski and his companion, Dorothy Burnes, of Honesdale, PA, and Michael Kozykowski of Port Jervis; two sisters, Sophie Panyko of Fairlawn, NJ and Adeline Crane of Oak Ridge, NJ; a daughter-in-law, Cynthia Kozykowski of Clearfield, PA; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Monica C. Lahey Kozykowski; his brothers, Chester, Felix, John and Nicholas; and his sisters, Eleanor, Helen, Jenny, Josie and Mary.
Services were held on June 12 at St. Marys R.C. Church.
Interment will be at St. Marys Cemetary, Port Jervis.

WILLIAM L. KRUM
CALLICOON, NY William L. Krum, of Beechwoods, Callicoon, died Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at the Wayne Memorial Medical Center, Honesdale, PA. He was 78.
The son of the late Leonard and Katherine Gabriel Krum, he was born July 11, 1927 in Liberty.
A retired stonecutter and lifelong area resident, Krum served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Bauernfeind Cemetery Assoc. and a member of the NRA.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy A. Hess Krum at home; a daughter, Janette M. Neiditch and her husband Jay of Oakton, VA; one granddaughter; one niece; and one nephew.
Private funeral services and interment will be in the Bauernfeind Cemetery, Callicoon.

SUSAN B. LAYNE
HONESDALE, PA Susan B. Layne (formerly Suzi Laferriere) of Honesdale, died Saturday, June 24, 2006 in Scranton after a battle with lymphoma cancer. She was 46.
The daughter of Roger Laferriere and Suzanne Simms, Layne was originally from Woonsocket, RI.
Layne enjoyed a diverse lifestyle, dividing her time between journaling, publishing, writing, healing arts, teaching and a constant journey for better living. Susan was especially proud of being a published author. Layne spent her life attempting to make others lives more enriched by her help and love.
When she was not busy writing and teaching, Layne was outdoors enjoying biking, hiking, camping, flying, cruising in her vintage Bee car and scuba diving with the Welcome Lake Dive Rescue Team.
She is survived by her parents; two brothers, Paul Laferriere and James Laferriere; a sister, Annessa Becker; three nephews; and five nieces.
A memorial service was held on Wednesday, June 28 at Temple Beth Israel, Court and 7th Street, in Honesdale. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Sister Ruth Neely at Scranton Temple Health Center, 640 Madison Ave, Scranton, PA 18510.
PAUL PETE THIELE
SPARTA, TN Paul Pete Thiele, former resident of Glen Spey, NY, died Tuesday, June 20, 2006 in Sparta, TN. He was 70.
The son of the later Henry H. Thiele and Anna Jane Carr Thiele, he was born September 25, 1935 in Mongaup, NY.
A retired firefighter with Local #2767 in the City of Monticello, NY, Thiele was a member of Pond Eddy United Methodist Church, Pond Eddy, NY; the Sparta United Methodist Church, Sparta; life member of the Sullivan County Firemans association; former chief of the Lumberland Fire Department, Glen Spey, NY; life member of Dekalb Fire Company in Smithville; life member of Monticello Fire Department; and Honorary Member of the Sparta Fire Department.
He was also a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Marines, 3rd Division; member of the Tri-State Naval Ship V.F.W. Post#7241; member of the Sylvan-Liebla American Legion Post, Eldred, NY; and member of American Veterans Post #01011, Smithville.
He is survived by his wife, Dare Reed Thiele; two sons, Wayne Thiele and his wife Aileen of Glen Spey, NY, and Craig Thiele and his wife Tammy of Brush Creek; a daughter, Donna Rains and her husband Mitch of Aubrey, TX; one brother, Howard Thiele and his wife Gen of Glen Spey, NY; four sisters, Florence Hunt of Glen Spey, NY, Deline Norris of Eldred, NY, Louise McKerrell of Glen Spey, NY, and Marjorie Bachelder and her husband Douglas of Belleview, FL; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 29 at 10:30 a.m. at The Pond Eddy United Methodist Church, Pond Eddy, NY with the Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst officiating.
Private interment will take place at Glen Spey Cemetery, Glen Spey, NY.
