Celebrating Independence Day

New York

Bethel — Fireworks on Sunday, July 2, at dusk, on Kauneonga Lake.

Liberty — Street fair on Tuesday, July 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Main Street. Vendors, car show and a skate-shop booth operated by Liberty’s TeamSkate, a group raising funds for the town’s new skate park.

Lumberland — Fourth of July parade on Tuesday, July 4. Parade starts at 12:30 p.m. at the fire department and marches to the town hall.

Monticello — Fireworks on Sunday, July 2, at approximately 9:00 p.m. at the racetrack. The Monticello Raceway fireworks are in their 37th year, and will follow the year’s only nighttime race card.

Narrowsburg — Fireworks on Sunday, July 2, at dusk at the Firemen’s Field. There will also be a street fair starting at 12:00 noon in the area in front of the library, a parade at 1:00 p.m., and a chicken barbeque sponsored by the fire department from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Port Jervis — Reading of the Declaration of Independence on Tuesday, July 4, at 7:00 p.m. The reading will be held at Orange Square. A processional of the readers will begin at Fort Decker at 127 West Main Street at 6:15 p.m. and take about 30 minutes. In addition to the reading, there will be a program of history and music by the Fife and Drummers of the Broome Street Band, reviewing the events leading up to the Declaration of Independence and what happened in the years that followed.

In the event of rain or exceptionally hot and humid weather, the program will take place across the street at Fellowship Hall in the Drew United Methodist Church at 49-51 Broome Street.

Pennsylvania

Honesdale — Fireworks display on Monday, July 3 at dusk, set off from Irving Cliff. Starting at 5:00 p.m., the Wayne County Creative Arts Council will provide a variety of games and contests in the park, and vendors will be open on Court Street next to the park. Musical entertainment will be provided on stage between 5:30 p.m. and dusk.

Lake Wallenpaupack — Fireworks display on Friday, July 1. The display is fired near the shores of the lake, next to the high school, at about 9:15 p.m. Bleachers will be open to spectators at approximately 7:00 p.m., and pre-event musical entertainment is planned. Parking at the high school.
