Indomitable spirit

Youth soccer coach exudes aura of positivism in his bout with aggressive cancer

CALLICOON CENTER, NY — It’s almost inevitable that most of us will face serious adversity. When that time comes, one of two things is apt to happen. Either we will discover within ourselves the strength to endure and grow stronger, or we are broken down by circumstances we perceive as insurmountable. Once that happens, we may lapse into depression, lose our sense of self-reliance and possibly surrender the will to live.

That latter possibility has never and will never exist for Lenny Miret, a 38-year-old father and husband, a successful salesman for Federal Express and a soccer coach extraordinaire.

Ronny’s Ringers Softball Tournament

The tie that binds

COCHECTON CENTER, NY ¾ It’s official, summer is here. It was ushered in by the annual rite of passage known as the Ronny’s Ringers Softball tournament, a gathering of beer league teams playing before swarms of happy-go-lucky fans. Crowds on onlookers on June 16 through 18 were enticed by great weather, heated softball rivalries, the smell of hot dogs and quenching quaffs of cold drinks to stave off the blistering heat.

Monticello Men’s Softball League

Fitness Factory continues its rampage

MONTICELLO, NY ¾ For Fitness Factory, the defending champion of the Monticello Men’s Softball League, this season has picked up right where the last one led off.

Coming off their latest tournament victory in Pennsylvania on June 10 and 11, the men in orange and blue exuded confidence as they faced Superior Roofing on June 13.
