Austin’s dark comedy “A Fit End” ushers in a third season for Liberty Free Theatre

LIBERTY, NY — The Liberty Free Theatre will open its third season with a staged reading of “A Fit End,” a new comedy by Paul Austin, for two performances only at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 17 and at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 18, at 109 South Main Street.

“A Fit End” takes place in a South Boston funeral parlor, where 93-year-old Mickey Robinson is greeting mourners at a wake. Unfortunately, Mickey can’t settle into a satisfactory grieving because his dead wife, Susie, refuses to cross over until certain matters are settled between them.

Author Austin is also the artistic director of the theatre, and three of his previous plays have been produced in New York. He has acted and directed on and Off Broadway and around the country. He has also appeared in feature films and on television.

As its name implies, the Liberty Free Theatre has a policy of “everyone welcome, always” and admission is free. The theatre has been newly air-conditioned. Seating is limited and reservations are suggested. The theatre will also continue its tradition of inviting the audience to gather after the performance for food, drink, and music.
