Tractors roll through town for 10th year

CALLICOON, NY — One of the highlights of the early summer season in the Upper Delaware River Valley, Callicoon’s 10th annual Tractor Parade will roll down Main Street on Sunday, June 11 starting at 12:00 noon sharp, rain or shine. The line-up for the tractors will be at the Delaware Youth Center at the end of Main Street and there will be parking for trucks and trailers at the campgrounds adjacent to the center. There is no registration fee for the tractors in the parade.

Participants and parade viewers alike can get the day off to an early start at the Volunteer Fireman’s Pancake Breakfast at the firehouse, available from 7:00 through 11:00 a.m.

Vendors will offer t-shirts and hats, balloons and toy tractors for sale during the parade, and this year the post office will issue a special cancellation stamp honoring the Tractor Parade. The postmaster will be in town during the parade selling the special envelopes that will commemorate the day. Proceeds of these sales all go to the youth center, which is the sponsor of the parade and provides the volunteers that make it possible.

The festivities don’t end with the parade, which will be followed by a chicken barbeque at the youth center field, where all the tractors will be lined up on display. Miller’s Barbecue of Walton will once again put the barbecue along with the youth center’s famous hot dogs on a bun.
