Finned fun in Livingston Manor
LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY Livingston Manors third annual Trout Parade is scheduled for Saturday, June 10 at 1:00 p.m., complete with wacky marching bands, stilt walkers, processional puppets and musical performances. All profits from the parade, art and music festival go to the music and arts departments at the Livingston Manor Central School.
The Trout Parade seeks to blend artistry from the local school, the county, New York City and beyond. This years performing artists include Brooklyns Hungry March Band, a grassroots marching band that blends traditional marching tunes with punk, ska and Balkan music, and Groovehoopalition, a hula hoop troupe. The Mountaintones Marching Band, the Livingston Manor School Marching Band, will also perform, and NACL will be up to their street-theater hijinks.
The parade lines up at noon and steps off at 1:00 p.m., but food vendors and artists will be on hand to feed the crowds body and soul beginning at 11:00 a.m., while DJ Paris spins tunes at the Peez Leweez Beer Garden.
This years feature performance piece will be a wedding of two sea creatures who swam up Main Street in last years Trout Parade, sole-mates who are being joined in Holy Mackerelmony, and attended by a Best Man-atee and Mermaids-of-Honor. The event will take place at 2:00 p.m. on the Main Trout Stage immediately after the parade, and will be followed by two hours of live band music on the great Trout Stage on Main Street.
