A potpourri of arts at Milford Music Festival

MILFORD, PA — New Riders of the Purple Sage is only one of the groups to be featured at the Milford Music Festival, to be held the weekend of June 9, 10 and 11. Many of the performances will be held on the main stage in Ann Street Park, but live performances of rock, jazz, classical, blues and more will be held at venues throughout the town on all these days, and some local galleries will bring painting and sculpture into the mix.

There’ll be instrumental 1930s swing at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at Remax Realtors, jazz at TLC Salon & Spa at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, and blues/rock at Wild Meadow Flowers from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.

The Golden Fish Art Gallery, located at 307 Broad Street, will feature an exhibition of the Milford Music Festival’s signature artist Dane Tilghman. The gallery will also host the sounds of MacGillicuddy Reeks from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. And an exhibit at the Artery will feature interactive performances with sculpture that can be played (see page 8c).

The Arianna String Quartet, which has been featured in concerts at the Spoleto, Banff, Norfolk and Strings in the Mountains festivals and was Ensemble-in-Residence at the Tanglewood Music Center, will perform at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 10 on the lawn of Grey Towers National Historic Site on Saturday. Their appearance is co-sponsored by Grey Towers as part of their 2006 Kindred Spirits Music Series.

For children, there will be a children’s music workshop with Leo B. and Jared Feldman, child prodigy guitarist at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday and at 1:15 p.m. on Sunday.
