MILFORD, PA — Amy Lynn Gruzesky was appointed to the position of the executive director of the Pike County Chamber of Commerce, the Pike County Industrial Corporation (IDC) and the Pike County Industrial Authority (IDA).

Gruzesky will unite the programs of the three organizations into a united effort in support of the businesses in the county, said to Harry Forbes, chairman of the Pike County Commissioners at the board meeting on April 19.

One of her charges is to develop the IDA Business Park which has been existence for four years and has not yet attracted any business customers. The county has been attempting to sell the park to one developer but has, so far, been unsuccessful.

Because she had just arrived three days earlier, Gruzesky said she was still learning about the issues in the area, but she hoped to draw on her experience to help move the county forward.

“The interviewing committee screened a number of candidates and came to the conclusion that Ms. Gruzensky stood hands above the others,” Forbes said.

“After the retirement of Dave Wilson, who headed the two organizations separately–the chamber and the IDA–it was decided that they should be united in focus and direction,” Forbes said.

Gruzesky was the executive director of the Endless Mountains Region, a coalition serving Bradford, Sullivan, Susquehanna and Wyoming Counties.

“My job was to head the visitors bureau whose job was to promote the tourism industries of the four counties,” Gruzesky said.

Before that, she worked for the Earth Conservancy in Luzerne County whose aim was to reclaim the old coal mining lands and redevelop them for community usage, such as recreational, industrial, commercial and residential development.

The business group is celebrating the grand opening of its offices located at 209 East Harford Street in Milford. A ceremony will be held on Thursday, April 27 at 5:00 p.m. with a ribbon cutting and light refreshments immediately following.
