JUNE K. INNOCENT

MARS, PA — June K. Innocent passed away Monday, March 20, 2006 in St. John Specialty Care, Mars. She was 79.

The daughter of the late Frank Martin and Vera Loretta (Klein) Kasch, she was born June 13, 1926 in Monroe, NY.

Innocent is survived by four daughters, Melissa (Lee) Brown of Beach Lake, Barbara (Daniel) O’Brien of Brighton, IL, Cheryl (Thomas ) Nosworthy of Circleville, NY, and Jodi Innocent of Seven Fields; two sisters, Janet Grasselena of Goshen, NY and Carole Glasspool of Felton, DE; and four grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at 2 Jefferson Plaza, Suite 103, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.

A private family burial will take place at a later date.


ALICE GILLOW JOHNSTON

LIBERTY, NY — Alice Gillow Johnston, a longtime area resident, died March 27, 2006 at Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty. She was 81.

The daughter of Sanford and Erma Williams Minckler, she was born April 7, 1924 in Callicoon.

Johnston was a retired nurses aide at Hancock Hospital in Hancock. She was a member of the Long Eddy Hose Company Ladies Auxiliary and the Ladies Auxiliary of Alan Milk Post Veterans of Foreign Wars.

She is survived by her children, Paul Gillow Jr. and his wife Rhonda of Long Eddy, Sarah Vacca of Loch Sheldrake, Robert Gillow and his wife Rosie of Beach Lake, PA, Dawn Davis of Binghamton, Karl Gillow and his wife Carol of Long Eddy, Mary VanPelt and her husband Bruce of Woodbourne, John Gillow and his wife Theresa (Tess) of Beach Lake, PA; one sister, Wanda Sutton of North Carolina; four brothers, Allan Minckler of Florida, Alvin Minckler of Pennsylvania, Gerald Minckler of Long Eddy and David Minckler of Jeffersonville; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husbands, Paul Gillow Sr. and George Johnston; two sisters, Bertha Swendsen and Edith Fuller; one brother, Alfred Minckler; and her son-in-law, Aaron Davis.

Services were held Friday, March 31 at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Callicoon.

Interment is in the Halsey Cemetery in Long Eddy.

FRANCIS EDWARD MCPEAK

SPARROWBUSH, NY — Francis Edward McPeak, a lifelong area resident, died March 30, 2006 at home. He was 50.

The son of William McPeak and Marion Holly, he was born June 7, 1955 in Morristown, NJ.

McPeak owned Frank’s Roofing and Siding in Sparrowbush.

He is survived by his wife and the step-mother of his children, Mary Mabee McPeak; six daughters, Michelle McPeak and Jason Gray of Wantage, NJ, Lisa Jugan of Hopatcong, NJ, Frankie and Angel Urbina of Newton, NJ, Patricia Ramirez of Dover, NJ, Tammy and Joel Espinosa of Newton, NJ and Tasha McPeak of Montague, NJ; two sons, Frankie McPeak Jr. of Port Jervis and Adam McPeak of PA; 11 grandchildren, Leah, Johnny, Lisa, Emily, Amanda, Destiny, Selena, Bradley, Angelina, Monica, and Tyler; three brothers, Steven, Ralph and William; two stepbrothers, Harry and William; four step-sisters, Sandra and Denise; a step-father, William Dawson; a lifelong friend, Patricia Jugan; and best friends, Barbara and Bruce Winkler.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, April 4 at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home in Port Jervis with the Reverend Joseph Iannone officiating.

Interment will be private.


NANCY J. MILLER

GREELEY, PA — Nancy J. Miller, a lifetime area resident, died Thursday, March 29, 2006 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, NY.

The daughter of Edward and Madeline “Cissy” (Kleinert) Hess, she was born July 4, 1950 in Port Jervis, NY.

Miller worked as a bartender at Ernie’s Place in Greeley.

She is survived by her father of Shohola; her children, Stacy Beisel of Greeley and Jeff Miller of Shohola; her sister, Lisa Hess of Shohola; a brother, Steven Hess of Shohola; and her granddaughter, Kaitlyn Beisel.

A memorial mass was celebrated Saturday, April 1, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church in Shohola with the Reverend Philip Rayyapan officiating.

Cremation took place at H.G. Smith Crematory in Stroudsburg.


MARY E. PHILLIPS

SPARROWBUSH, NY — Mary E. Phillips, a lifetime area resident, died Friday, March 31, 2006 at her home. She was 68.

The daughter of the late Otto Melloh and Julia Howell Melloh Tunney, she was born December 15, 1937 in Port Jervis.

Phillips was a former employee of the Novelty Slipper Co. and Burger King in Port Jervis.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Phillips at home; two daughters, Mary E. Phillips at home and Deborah Parker of Lake Wallenpaupack, PA; two brothers, William and Ray Melloh; three grandchildren, Thomas C. Phillips, Julia E. Phillips and Jamie Quackenbush; and two great-grandchildren, Tristan and Samatha Phillips.

She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Cynthia Louise Phillips; a brother, Charles Melloh; and her stepfather, William Tunney.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Cremation will take place at H.G. Smith Crematory in Stroudsburg, PA.

HAROLD R. ‘MONK’ RAKE

MATAMORAS, PA — Harold R. “Monk” Rake, a lifelong area resident, died Thursday, March 30, 2006 at home. He was 70.

The son of the late Harold E. Rake and Lissetta Heater Rake, he was born August 19, 1935 in Port Jervis, NY.

Rake was a retired engineer and proprietor of 3-D Block Co. in Port Jervis; Delaware Valley Block; 4-D Door and Hardware, and High Falls Builders. He was a 52-year member of the Matamoras Fire Department.

He was predeceased by his wife, Helen L. Decker.

He is survived by two daughters, Tammy L. Klemm of Matamoras, PA and Bobbie Jo Muller and her husband Kenneth of Sparrowbush, NY; his long-time companion, Margaret Fuller of Cummins Hill, PA; a sister, Alice Poptic of Newton Falls, OH; five grandchildren, Nicole, Keri, Samantha Jo and Stephanie; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held on Monday, April 3 at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home in Port Jervis with the Reverend Robert E. Foster officiating.

Interment is at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Matamoras.

RUDOLPH RICHARD ‘RUDY’ ROTH JR.

NORTH BRANCH, NY — Rudolph Richard “Rudy” Roth Jr., died April 1, 2006 at home. He was 67.

The son of Rudolph Richard Roth Sr. and Margaret Mary McTabey Roth, he was born January 4, 1939 in Queens.

Roth was a cab driver for Kelly Cab in New York City. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving from 1958 to 1960.

He is survived by three sons, Rudolph Richard Roth III of North Branch, Thomas C. Roth of Callicoon, David R. Roth of North Branch; two sisters, Denise Stojda of Kirkland Quebec, Canada and Kimberly Roth of Broward County, FL; two brothers, Joseph of SC and Vincent of VA; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Sunday at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Callicoon, 2:30 p.m.

Cremation will be at Twin Tiers Crematory in Endicott.
