Songstress Franke to appear at Krause recital hall

NARROWSBURG, NY — Singer/songwriter Denice Franke will perform at the Gloria Krause Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 7.

Franke hails from Dallas, Texas, but now makes her home in Houston. She has sung with such luminaries as Lyle Lovett, Nanci Griffith, Robert Earl Keen, and Hal Ketchum. She has performed with Eric Taylor, one of the artists whose work was covered by Lyle Lovett on his CD, “Step Inside This House,” a tribute to Texas singer/songwriters, and she can be heard singing background harmonies on Nanci Griffith’s “One Fair Summer Evening” CD.

Franke’s music is honest and heartfelt and conveys a depth that places her in the realm of some of the best poets. Bob Strauss (LA Daily News Review) said: “The work of Texas singer/songwriter Franke will remind you of Joni Mitchell’s lust-colored romanticism and Phoebe Snow’s more bitter longings. There’s a beatnik artsiness to her husky, yet melodious, voice and her poetry, but that intelligence more often enhances, rather than overwhelms, the feeling of strong sense of place in her songs of wandering hearts.”

The recital hall is located upstairs at the Delaware Arts Center (Delaware Valley Arts Alliance) on Main Street. A reception with the artist will be held immediately following the concert at the home of Jill’s Kitchen on 78 Kirk Road.

Tickets cost $10. Reservations are strongly suggested. Unpaid reserved tickets will be held until 20 minutes prior to showtime. Reception tickets cost $10 and will feature hors d’oeuvres and beverages. Tickets for both the concert and reception are available at Jill’s Kitchen or by mail.
