Buffalo art comes to Mountaindale

MOUNTAINDALE, NY — The Mountaindale Art Center participates in a “gallery swap” with the One Hour Gallery in Buffalo, NY. This past fall, a Mountaindale show, entitled “Urban/Rural Divide,” traveled west to Buffalo. In return, Mountaindale will now persent “Beyond the City,” a mixed-media “best-of” retrospective of the 2005-2006 Buffalo gallery season. The artists’ reception will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, and will include paintings, sculptures, photographs and collages. Artists represented will include Aaron Mott, son of Peter Mott, one of the local artists whose outdoor scultpures are on display year round in the Mountaindale Art Garden.

The Mountaindale Art Center is located at 58 Main Street. “Beyond the City” will be on display for the month of April with hours by appointment.

In “Ancient,” an oil on canvas collage by Aaron Mott, the artist represents his perception of himself without the use of any part of the human form. The piece is part of an exchange art exhibit from Buffalo’s One Hour Gallery that will be shown at the Mountaindale Art Center in April. (Click for larger version)
