Mews project given another green light

NARROWSBURG, NY — After a two-month trial period, the Tusten Planning Board awarded the restaurant 15 Main, located at Nick and Laura Santana’s Narrowsburg Mews project another two-month special-use permit.

At the board’s meeting on Monday, March 20, water and sewer superintendent Ronald Schlack Jr. reported that the restaurant used about 406 gallons of water a day, much lower than their 40-seat restaurant’s 1,600-gallon capacity. Currently, the project is running smoothly, but an addition to the sewer must be done before the board will grant the project final approval. The board awarded the restaurant another 62-day special use permit, allowing it to remain open while the Santanas work with their engineer to develop a plan.

“We did this so we can keep a window open to see what is going on,” said planning board chairman Edwin Jackson.

A public hearing will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 15. If a plan can be established before this time, the Santanas will seek final approval of the project.
