Poets on the Loose
MIDDLETOWN, NY The Upper Delaware Writers Collective (UDWC) of Narrowsburg will give a reading on Saturday, April 1 at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 6 Orchard Street (at Main). The event, which starts at 8:00 p.m., is sponsored by Poetry on the Loose and is part of an ongoing monthly poetry series. There will also be an open reading where audience members are invited to perform their original work. Admission is by donation.
The UDWC was founded in 1992 and has been involved in promoting the literary arts in the region through publications, contests, art camps and writing workshops for children and adults. At Poetry on the Loose, members plan to perform poems in single and multiple voices, and will be on hand after the event for conversation and book signings. Here is an excerpt by UDWC member Marcia Nehemiah from the groups recent publication, Wheel:
Consider night, how it drifts over bears and bobolinks,/ over fireflies that sink back to grass./ The moon turns and you slip into the sleeve of sleep,/ your other life, the one of dreams.
