New York State Public High School Athletic Association girls championships Chapel Field loses in the final TROY, NY — Chapel Field’s glorious quest for a state title in basketball ended on March 19 with a 72-50 loss to Section 4’s South Kortright. After a magical run, including a stunning last-second shot by Grace Hodges that propelled the Lady Lions past Hammond 39-38 in the semifinals, Chapel Field finally met its match. Despite late rallies, Chapel Field (18-6) could never really make up a big early deficit. They’d get close but then South Kortright pulled away. Chapel Field was Section 9’s only team (girls or boys) to get past their opening- round game.
