Eldreds own Corinne Marrinan wins an Oscar

HOLLYWOOD, CAFor a small-town country girl, Corinne Marrinan has become the bright star of Eldred.
I think it hasnt quite sunken in yet, I havent seen the broadcast yet, but when I do, I think then it will be real. Of course it feels great. Im just really happy and surprised and glad that people are going to see the film, Marrinan said.
After accepting the academy award, along with director Eric Simonson, for producing this years Best Short Subject Documentary, A Note of Triumph: The Golden Age of Norman Corwin on March 5, 31-year-old Marrinan called home.
She was very excited, Cathy Marrinan, Corinnes mother, said.

Suppressed society of priests surfaces in South America
Critic faults the Diocese of Scranton

SHOHOLA, PAA suppressed society of Roman Catholic priests has moved out of Shohola Township in the Diocese of Scranton to the Diocese of Ciudad del Este in Paraguay. According to its current website, the suppressed Society of Saint John (SSJ) has reestablished itself in the Paraguay diocese with the apparent permission of the local bishop, Rogelio Ricardo Livieres Plano, who presides over the diocese of more than 500,000 Catholics.

Sullivan 2020 charts future for county, towns
County comprehensive plan says common goals are county wide

SULLIVAN COUNTY, NYIn the year 2020, the full-time population of Sullivan County is expected to expand to 100,000 residents from its current level of 74,000. The federal government will then regard the county as an urbanized area, rather than a rural one. That will change the way the county receives funding for such things as mass transit and infrastructure. It will also change the look and the rural quality of the county in some places.
