Poet and boat-builder next in Irish culture series
March 12 event cancelled
NARROWSBURG, NY The Delaware Valley Arts Alliances Everlasting Voices series will continue at 7:00 p.m. on March 15 with a talk titled The Irish Language & Culture of the Southwest Peninsula, by poet, historian and boat builder Danny Sheehy, at the Gloria Krause Recital Hall at the Delaware Arts Center, 37 Main Street. The March 12 literary presentation by Michael Coffey has been cancelled due to a Coffey family emergency.
Sheehy has crossed the Atlantic on a Galway Hooker and travels throughout Ireland give workshops on fishing and boat building. He spoke only Irish until he was 15 and is heard regularly on Irelands Irish-language radio station reading novels. The talk is co-presented with the Tusten-Cochecton branch of the Western Sullivan Public Library.
