Erlwein heading to national all-star football classic
By RICHARD A. ROSS
KENT, OH Sullivan West linebacker Jimmy Erlwein has been invited to the National All-Stars.com Bowl High School Football Classic, which will be held on July 1.
The game is billed as one of the most exciting all-star events in high school football, and features players from throughout the Northeast including Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland and West Virginia.
The marquee event was developed to honor the elite and deserving athletes in high school football. Locally, Erlwein was regarded as one of the regions finest players. An offensive force to be reckoned with, Erlwein also racked up 114 tackles this past season from his position as linebacker. The New York State Sportswriters Association selected him to the Class C second defensive team. The Section 9 coaches chose him for the first team among Class C/D.
Coaches from different levels of college football will be on hand to review any of the athletes that have not yet signed letters of intent.
Players were selected by their head coaches to represent their respective schools. Thousands were eligible for the game, yet only those considered all-star players by their head coaches were selected. The teams are restricted to a two-deep roster which ensures each player will play at least half of the game. The process of finalizing the rosters will be rigorous since so many fine athletes names were submitted.
