Locally featured artist shows off his stuff at Sundance
PARK CITY, UT A custom-made snowboard designed by Roberto Rabanne, a featured artist at the Sidedoor Gallery in Bethel, was auctioned off at The Art is In Contemporary Art Gallery at 333 Main Street in Park City, UT during the Sundance Festival for $50,000. Proceeds will support two films being developed by the Salt Lake City Film Center. Rabannes Objects of Desire collection, a line of high-tech snowboards sporting his celebrity-inspired images, was displayed throughout the festival at the same venue.
Among Rabannes exhibits at the Side-door Gallery was a Woodstock-themed show that coincided with the festivals 35th anniversary. The gallery is currently in the process of putting together another Rabanne exhibition.
The Eha board, inspired by Marilyn Monroe, was created especially for the event and features singer and former Miss Estonia, Eha, who will be performing at Harry Os on Main Street in Park City during the festival.
The Sidedoor Gallery plans an opening in a new Callicoon location this summer. During the winter it is open by by appointment only.
