Church reach out in holiday spirit

NARROWSBURG, NY — The Narrowsburg Ecumenical Food Pantry and the St. Francis Xavier Outreach Program are combining their efforts in reaching people with food and gifts for the holidays.

The ecumenical group is made up of members from the United Methodist Church, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and St. Francis Xavier Church in Narrowsburg and the Upper Delaware Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Beach Lake, PA.

Barbara Drollinger, one of the organizers of the dual effort, said 12 local volunteers are involved this year. She said she participates because “I know people need to have a nice Christmas. Jesus wants me to do this and it comes from the heart.”

Among the items distributed were turkeys and other food stuffs, clothing and toys for the children.

The items were distributed on Monday, December 20 at St. Francis Parish Hall.
