Photographs sought for Port Jervis centennial book

PORT JERVIS, NY — The city of Port Jervis will celebrate its centennial in 2007. As an early contribution to the celebration, the Minisink Valley Historical Society will publish a new book entitled “Port Jervis: Then and Now, ” to be printed by Arcadia Publishing and available for Christmas 2006. The focus of the book will be on how the Port Jervis of 1907 compares to that of today. Matt Osterberg will author the book along with Ed and Betsy Krakowiak.

The historical society is soliciting pictures of Port Jervis from 1900-1915 from the public. If you have one or more photographs from that time period call Betsy and Ed Krakowiak at 845/856-4894 or send an email to webmaster@minisink.org. Of particular interest are outdoor and street scenes, family reunions, work photographs and parades. Selected photographs will be digitally scanned and returned to the owner.
