Barryville’s first tree lighting

BARRYVILLE, NY — The Barryville Chamber of Commerce hosted Barryville’s first Christmas Tree Lighting on December 3. Over 100 people showed up to see the tree illuminated as Chamber president Mark Veeder emceed.

To add to the evening, Santa Claus made a dramatic entrance atop the River Market, accompanied by two of his elves. Hot cocoa and cookies were served and local Brownies and Girl Scouts read “’Twas the Night Before Christmas.”

DNR gas station donated the electricity, River Market provided Santa and goodies to eat, and Michael Schroeder organized the event, the first of such for many for years to come.
