FLORENCE C. CLAISSE

PORT JERVIS, NY – Florence C. Claisse, a resident of Port Jervis and longtime resident of the area, died Thursday, October 27, 2005 at Bon Secours Community Hospital. She was 90.

The daughter of the late Walter and Mary Keegan McHugh, she was born January 25, 1915 in New York, NY.

Claisse was a retired secretary for the Goldman Insurance Agency. She was a member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church in Port Jervis.

She was the widow of the late Patrick Claisse who died on March 4, 1993.

A family statement said: “She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and friend. She will be sadly missed by all her friends and family.”

She is survived by her son, Victor Claisse Sr. and his wife Susan of Sparrowbush; a daughter, Mary Gobel and her husband Kenneth of Port Jervis; two grandsons, David Claisse and his wife Lauren of Port Jervis and Victor Claisse Jr. of Sparrowbush; two sisters-in-law, Joan McHugh and Florence McHugh, both of Toms River, NJ; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held on Monday, October 31 at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s RC Church.

Interment is in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Port Jervis.

FLOYD ROBERT ELSTON SR

PORT JERVIS, NY – Floyd Robert Elston Sr., a resident of Port Jervis and a lifelong area resident, died October 24, 2005 at Bon Secours Community Hospital. He was 82.

The son of Charles William and Edith Conklin, he was born September 25, 1923 in Port Jervis.

Elston was self-employed.

He is survived by his wife, Rowena Olga Walker at home; four sons, Floyd Jr. and his wife Betty of Shickshinny, PA, Ronald and his wife Monica of Beach Lake, Daniel Crum and his wife Cindy of Hamburg and Edward and his wife Marion of Milford; one daughter, Gloria Jean Davis and her husband George of Shickshinny; one sister, Jenny Anderson; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was predeceased by a son, John Elston.

Services were held on Wednesday, October 26 at Knight-Archmoody Funeral Home in Port Jervis with Deacon Wayne VonDoehren officiating.

Interment will be private.


RUTH HELEN FREIEMUTH

BEACH LAKE, PA – Ruth Helen Freiemuth, a resident of Beach Lake, died Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at her home after an illness. She was 86.

The daughter of the late Warren and Mildred Varcoe Samson, she was born in Honesdale.

Freiemuth worked for over 30 years at the Katz Underware Co. in Honesdale, until her retirement. She was a member of he Beach Lake Free Methodist Church and the Beach Lake Senior Citizens. She enjoyed reading and word games.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert A. Freiemuth in 1989.

She is survived by two sons, Arthur E. of Beach Lake and William R. of Waymart; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Ann Reagan of Beach Lake; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also predeceased by a son, Herbert and a grandson, Jeffrey Freiemuth.

Services were held on Saturday, October 29 at the Beach Lake Free Methodist Church.

Interment is at the Indian Orchard Cemetery in Indian Orchard.

DOROTHY KOLBE

DELAND, FL – Dorothy Kolbe, a resident of Deland and a former resident of Callicoon, died Saturday, October 22, 2005 at the Florida Lutheran Health Care Center in Deland. She was 92.

The daughter of the late Edward and Dora Rhinehart, she was born June 21, 1913 in Brooklyn. She was the widow of Arthur Kolbe.

She is survived by a daughter, Beryl Pietrucha of Callicoon; a grandson, Arthur Pietrucha and his wife Lisa of Youngsville; two granddaughters, Barbara Pietrucha of Callicoon and Christina Reich of Greene; a great-granddaughter, Dorothy June Reiche; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in Florida.
