Sullivan West grad awarded top honor in sociology
CORTLAND, NY The New York State Sociological Association (NYSSA) has chosen a scholarly article by Nathan Bucar of Jeffersonville as its Outstanding Undergraduate Paper. The paper, which explores the relationships between political and economic forces and the effect of current and projected global capital expansion on workers and the environment, is entitled Laborers v. Capitalists and Core v. Periphery: The Dynamics of Global Capitalism.
The invitation-only conference selected Bucars article after it was nominated for presentation by SUNY Cortlands Dean of Sociology. In recognition of Bucars cogent analysis of this critical subject, NYSSA will present him with its top undergraduate award at a banquet at Wells College on Saturday, October 15.
A senior at SUNY Cortland, Bucar is a 2002 graduate of Sullivan West.
